An Eastern Region Textile Forum Exhibition at St Albans Museum

I am delighted to be showing two new woven artworks in this exhibition, Passion Determination Vision.

An exhibition held in the Keepers Gallery at St Albans Museum and Gallery is open daily 11am-5pm from 12 July to 3 November 2024.

The exhibition highlights and celebrates LOCAL movers and shakers – people who have made really positive differences to the life of St Albans/Hertfordshire/our wider Eastern Region. A portrait exhibition, but not in any conventional sense; instead it will be an exploration of diverse personalities, times, places, contributions and impacts as seen through the creative eye. Contemporary textile portraits with a difference!

‘London’ represents George Bernard Shaw’s writing hut woven in wool with imagery from his book covers Pygmalion and an Intelligent Woman’s Guide, and the poster from My Fair Lady. The piece has rotaing elements just as the writing hut at Shaws Corner does.

‘Dahlia Field’ is a tapestry that celebrates the horticultural achievments of Roger Aylett, who trained at Oaklands College after which he had a very succesful career winning many awards, including 36 consecutive gold medals. Described as a pioneer he developed his family business into a very successful independent garden centre and was very involved within the local community.

I will be taking part in the Craft in the Court room event on July 21st.
