Meet the Artists at The Wynd Gallery
Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th June 10am-3pm
The Wynd Gallery is taking part in this year’s Letchworth Festival with a meet the Artists event when some of our artists will be setting up extra stalls in front of the gallery and will be on hand to demonstrate our processes and chat to you about how, and why we create our work. I’ll be at the gallery on Saturday the 11th June along with 3 other Wynd artists. The event will continue on Sunday the 12th with another 3 Wynd artists at the gallery. Full details below.
Saturday 11th Anja Penger-Onyett – Ceramics, Debbie Armstrong – Jewellery designer and silversmith, Nade Simmons – Contemporary Embroidery, Lucy Sugden – Tapestry weaver
Sunday 12th Naini Ahluwalia – Fine Art painting, Cathy Smale – A painter of many things, Daniella Coronel Saavedra – Contemporary Abstract painting
Saturday 11th
Come and watch Anja, one of the galleries founding members, demonstrating mark-making and decorating with slips and engobe on ceramic tiles. Or listen to Debbie explaining why lost wax carving and casting is, a great way to make geometric and textured forms of jewellery, along with demonstrating the carving process and techniques involved. You’ll also find Nade working on a stumpwork abstract floral embroidery inside the gallery to show the various techniques and stitches used to create a textured piece. She will also have samples for you to have a try! And Lucy will have her frame and circles looms with her while she demonstrates and gives insight into the world of weaving tapestries and her floral work.
Sunday 12th
Three of the galleries’ painters will take over on the Sunday. Naini likes to capture and express the essence of life, the invisible fabric of space that connects entire existence, curious to know more? Come and ask her about her work. You can also meet one of our newest members Cathy while watching her at work and adding birds to her latest woodland treescape painting. Or talk to Daniella about her South American culture influence as she explores colour and composition working mainly with various sizes of palette knifes evoking the idea of ‘building with colour’.
