Working with motifs from fabric used in Spirella garments, you will produce a decorative and colourful panel.
We will draw out a design using traditional batik tools then add colour with fabric paints.
You will take home your finished panel and you may then choose to add further embellishment, make it up into a cushion cover etc or pop it into a picture frame.
Open to adults, and children over age 12 if accompanied by an adult.

Pulled warp weaving – Saturday 7th December 10am-12.30pm

with Lucy Sugden

Learn how to create 3D form from a flat weave using pulled warp processes.

In this workshop we will explore how to create  3D form using tapestry weaving techniques to produce corset and Spirella inspired shapes, linked to Lucy’s artwork in the Spirella Unbound exhibition. During the workshop you will weave a 2D shape following a pattern created by Lucy, which once complete will be finished by pulling the warps to create a small three-dimensional piece, playing with the idea of pulling the laces to tighten a corset.

Don’t know your warp from your weft, don’t worry no previous weaving skills are required. This workshop is suitable for adults and accompanied children aged 14 and over.

£30 p/p all materials and equipment provided.
