Introduction to Tapestry Weaving: Create a Woven Meadow

Have you ever wanted to try weaving but didn’t know where to start? Join me for this relaxing, beginner-friendly workshop where you will learn the ancient craft of tapestry weaving.

No Experience Needed: This workshop is designed specifically for complete beginners. You don’t need to be “artistic” or know how to weave. I will guide you step-by-step through choosing colours and how to weave using the techniques I use when creating my meadow woven tapestries.

What You Will Learn: While we cover the basics, you will also learn the technique of hatching.

The Basics: How to start and stop your wool and keep your edges neat.

Hatching: This is a flowing, accessible technique where two colours meet in the same row. We will use it to create organic lines that represent grass swaying in a field, perfect for our meadow theme.

Sustainable & Personal: We will be using high-quality wool that has been rescued from the textile industry. This “waste” is premium yarn from the rug making industry that allows us to craft sustainably. You will choose your own colour palette to create your own unique weave, before embellishing by hand-sewing flower buttons into your woven landscape.
