Weave a garden scene – Kids Weaving Workshop

Join me at the North Hertfordshire Museum in Hitchin for a vibrant, hands-on textile workshop. Let your child’s imagination grow as they learn to weave their own garden picture using a variety of colourful wools, ribbons, and threads.

Date: Wednesday 27th May 2026

Time: 11:00am – 11:45am or 1:30pm – 2:15pm

Price: £10 per child (All materials included)

Location: North Hertfordshire Museum, Brand Street, Hitchin, SG5 1JE

This session is designed to help children explore the tactile world of weaving, turning simple strands into a lush, textured landscape filled with life.

Tailored for ages 4–11, this workshop adapts to your child’s skill level. Younger children will focus on the sensory experience of using textured fibres and colours for grass and sky, while older children can learn shaping and building patterns within their weave.

  • Design: Choose from green, blue and brown fibres and fabrics to create the earthy tones and blue skies of your garden.

  • Craft: Learn the basics of weaving to create a beautiful woven background.

  • Embellish: Bring the scene to life by adding “mini-beasts,” and flowers to your finished piece.

Every child will leave with their own woven garden textile ready for display.

Note: This workshop is suitable for ages 4–11. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Spaces are limited and must be booked in advance!

Booking and further information for this workshop is available via the North Hertfordshire Museum website.
